Kobe

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Kobe - a gentle herding dog with a big heart is looking for experienced people. Kobe finally left the Spanish animal shelter and moved to a loving foster home in Germany. After too long behind bars, the impressive mixed breed is starting a new chapter - and he shows every day what a great dog is inside him. Kobe is a real rough diamond: friendly, affectionate and with a gentle nature, but also with a good dose of temperament and alertness. His foster family describes him as "a true herding dog through and through": attentive, trainable and eager to learn, but still looking for the right balance between "being in charge" and being relaxed. With loving consistency and clear guidance, Kobe can be easily guided and shows himself to be very obedient. He walks well on a leash, although he sometimes gets excited during (dog) encounters. Hard work is being done to help him remain more calm in the future. Generally, Kobe is quite a social dog. Living with puppies and smaller dogs works smoothly in his current home. Kobe is affectionate and seeks the company of his humans. He loves to cuddle closely and enjoys every petting session thoroughly. At home, he shows himself to be alert, as is typical for his breed, and reliably reports when something unusual happens. Kobe is already housebroken and uses the garden for his business. Outside his familiar and perceived safe environment, he is usually still a bit tense and not fully relaxed. He handles car rides and everyday situations quite confidently overall. For Kobe, we are looking for experienced dog people who enjoy clear leadership and can give him the security he needs. A rural home with a garden or yard, where he can keep an eye on his surroundings and rest, would be ideal for him. However, small children or unsure beginners should not live in the household - not because he is mean, but because he often cannot control his energetic nature. Kobe needs people who can handle his strength and his sensitive, watchful nature. We and Kobe hope that he will soon find his basket permanently and become a permanent member of his family. We are sure: A true lifelong friend is sleeping in Kobe! Here are Kobe's videos: Video 1 Video 2

About Kobe

What life with Kobe looks like

Kobe is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kobe, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kobe?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kobe on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kobe if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kobe already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kobe isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kobe and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
