Koli

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 6 years

A few-year-old Beagle mix, Kollie, is just starting his journey at the shelter. We are in the process of getting to know him, so his history and needs are still being discovered. He was brought to the shelter due to difficult behaviors at home - he exhibited aggression towards children. This is important information for us and we will not sweep it under the rug. Kollie will not thrive in a home with children - we are looking for responsible, adult caregivers who understand canine boundaries and will be able to respect them. What we have already noticed is a tendency to defend resources - food, objects, space. This behavior needs to be worked on calmly, consistently, and with a clear head. Kollie is not a "bad dog" - he is a dog that communicates his emotions in the way he knows best. Our task is to teach him that the world can be safe for him, and that a human does not have to be a threat. Despite these challenges, Kollie also shows his other side - curious, active, typically beagle-like. He likes to sniff, explore, and be on the move, and he also likes to stick close to humans. This is a dog for someone who is ready for a process, work, and building a relationship step by step. We are looking for a home: Kollie can become a truly special companion for the right person - someone whose trust is gained slowly, but for a long time. If you feel you can give him a chance - get in touch.

PL·Show original

Kollie to kilkuletni beagle, który dopiero zaczyna swoją drogę w schronisku. Jesteśmy na etapie poznawania się, więc jego historia i potrzeby wciąż się przed nami odkrywają. Do schroniska trafił z powodu trudnych zachowań w domu - wykazywał agresję w stosunku do dzieci. To zachowanie, nad którym trzeba pracować spokojnie, konsekwentnie i z głową.

About Koli

What life with Koli looks like

Koli is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Skałowo in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Koli, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Koli?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Skałowo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Koli on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Koli if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Skałowo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Koli already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Koli isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Skałowo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Koli and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
