Kruemel

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 11 years

A male mixed breed (likely Chihuahua/Terrier) born approximately 2013, surrendered due to health issues. He is a very lively, alert and really small guy who still has his footing in life, loves contact with people, enjoys short and longer walks, and demands attention. He is perfect for people who have plenty of time and want to provide a happy end-of-life for an older pet. He is very friendly and sociable. Due to age, Krümel has some health issues: he has significant clouding in his eyes, sees little to nothing, but his eye pressure is fine. He also doesn't hear much. This doesn't bother him much, he still goes through life cheerfully and confidently. Currently, a persistent cough is being treated and his dental calculus should be addressed soon. However, his blood values are okay, so we hope Krümel will have many happy years ahead! He prefers to be alone but despite his small stature, he likes to compete with others and wants to dominate. With females, he can be quite pushy. Krümel is not reliable in terms of house training, as far as we can assess here at the shelter, so he urgently needs a home that can be flexible if needed. Who will give Krümel a home to be happy? We look forward to you! (as of 17.07.2026) (Click on pictures to see them in full size!) The description reflects the current situation, but we reserve the right for changes or new assessments. It can always happen that an animal behaves differently here at the shelter and in a new home due to changing circumstances. Back to overview Tags: Small dogs, senior dogs

About Kruemel

What life with Kruemel looks like

Kruemel is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Marburg in Marburg.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kruemel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kruemel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Marburg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kruemel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kruemel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Marburg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kruemel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kruemel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Marburg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kruemel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
