Ksena

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 12 years

Meet Ksenia – a golden retriever type puppy who, despite her life experiences, hasn't lost her joy and warmth. Ksena possesses the traits of a golden retriever, known for their remarkable loyalty, friendly nature, and love for people – qualities that this mature lady exhibits at every step. Ksena loves people with her whole heart. Every meeting is an opportunity for her to show joy and hope that she will find someone to share her daily life with. One of her greatest friends is… food! Golden retrievers are famous for their appetite, and Ksena is happy to remind you of mealtime, wagging her tail like a little flag. On hot days, Ksena shows her water-loving side – a lake bath is truly a delight for her! Golden retrievers naturally love water, so for Ksenia, there is nothing better than a refreshing moment in the cool water. This is a great opportunity for shared walks by the lake, where both of you can enjoy nature. Ksena likely spent most of her life in a kennel run, which makes her feel a bit uncertain in rooms. However, her love and trust in humans are so strong that over time, she will surely overcome this fear. She just needs a little patience and warmth, and she will quickly realize that indoor spaces are safe and friendly places. Are you ready to give Ksenia a chance at a new, happy home? If you are looking for a loyal friend who will love you unconditionally, Ksena is here for you – waiting for someone who will open their heart and home to her.

About Ksena

What life with Ksena looks like

Ksena is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Skałowo in Poland.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Frequently asked

Adopting Ksena, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ksena?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Skałowo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ksena on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ksena if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Skałowo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Ksena already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ksena isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Skałowo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ksena and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
