Kuro

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Kuro has found a home! His story: Kuro and his brother Avio are two glossy black beauties whose appearance makes us think of the slogan from the 60s, "Black is beautiful!" The brothers are currently living in the Public Shelter in Baia Mare and waiting for their second chance. We do not want Kuro to have to suffer under the widespread prejudices against black dogs, because he is a wonderful and incredibly affectionate dog. That's why we are urgently looking for dog-friendly people who are willing to take in these needy male dogs. Kuro is about 4 years old and was caught by dog catchers just like his brother, who were also abandoned by their people. We do not know the reasons for this, but we are sure that Kuro is not to blame, because he is clingy, affectionate, and very trusting of people. Kuro would like nothing more than to cuddle all the time, and when given the chance, he will lie down on the ground. He loves it when loving hands stroke his black fur and his soft belly. The lively dog should be rehomed as quickly as possible into a real home. The shelter is hopelessly overcrowded, and although our staff on site are doing everything humanly possible, it is impossible to do justice to all the animals. That's why Kuro was given his beautiful name and a proper identity, was photographed, and posted on this page. We are all hoping that he will soon travel to an end or foster home. Kuro is a medium-sized dog with a shoulder height of about 58 cm, who, although he has already had his wild years, still has a lot of energy and activity. Of course, he still has a lot to learn, because he probably hasn't had any experiences as a house and family dog yet. But Kuro is very people-oriented and wants to do everything right and is ready to take advantage of a second chance. We recommend that Kuros new people attend a dog training class together, because patient and loving training will surely be fun for him and strengthen his bond with his new family. Through regular contact with fellow animals and many positive experiences with his new people, the beautiful male dog will quickly learn everything necessary for a life as a family dog and develop into a happy and reliable companion for all shared activities. A special thank you goes to the namesake Maike Sch., who gave Kuro his name and thus a proper identity. Additionally, you can support him with a monthly sponsorship! A big thank you also goes to Jasinin Ö., who has also taken on a monthly sponsorship for Kuro. As of: 28.06. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Stand: 28.06.2024

About Kuro

What life with Kuro looks like

Kuro is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kuro, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kuro?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kuro on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kuro if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kuro already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kuro isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kuro and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
