Kurt

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

KurtMale German wire haired pointer, medium in size. Approx. 5. 5 years old (August 2026). Would be a super family dog - adores humans, including children, and gets on well with cats and other dogs. Meet KurtThis gorgeous German wire haired pointer is Kurt. He was spotted in a small town in Serbia with a leg and stomach injury. Our lovely rescuer stopped to feed him and he took his chance and jumped in her boot - how could she say no to that! Kurt is fully recovered now and such a lovely boy. He’s great with other dogs, loves humans, especially kids, and he’s fine with cats. He’s active and is already good on a lead. He’ll make an all around great family member for some lucky people. All our dogs are tested for the following prior to travel: Heartworm, Anaplasmosis, Erlichiosis, Lyme Disease, Brucellosis (since 11th June 2021). About Kurt

What life with Kurt looks like

Kurt is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Balkan Underdogs in Tirana.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇦🇱Adopting from Albania

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kurt, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kurt?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Balkan Underdogs handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kurt on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kurt if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Balkan Underdogs will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Kurt already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kurt isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Balkan Underdogs early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kurt and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
