Kyra

Mixed Breed · Female

Description of Kyra comes from an animal shelter near Barcelona. As she had been waiting for a home for a long time, she was allowed to move to a dog trainer’s pension to be taken out of the animal shelter and to work with her better. We can only do this for a few dogs, as it is funded through donations. Kyra is a confident female dog. She tries to regulate other dogs, for example, when they play. She would not be a happy dog on a dog field. In the past, she reacted with excitement to other dogs on the leash. Now, after much work has been done with her, she is much more relaxed and handles these situations well. Her future family must continue to work with her, or Kyra would again “regulate” if the person does not. With friendly and sovereign training, a lot can be achieved here! At the moment, she lives with around 30 other dogs, which also works well, as she knows these dogs. When it comes to other dogs, she still shows confidence, and after getting to know them, there are practically no more problems. Kyra would certainly be very happy as a single dog. She has had to share everything with other dogs for so long and even the people she loves. She is clingy and nice to people, even with young people. She is active and playful. Kyra is the perfect family dog; another dog would also be no problem if the people are sufficiently experienced. The appearance of Kyra’s eyes does not affect her at all; it is more of a cosmetic flaw. If it were a problem for her, the animal shelter would have still arranged an operation, but there is no necessity for that. For Kyra, we wish experienced dog people who would like to give this really loving and people-oriented female dog her desired home. Update 17.11.2023: New photos, new videos Please note:

About Kyra

What life with Kyra looks like

Kyra is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kyra, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kyra?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kyra on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kyra if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kyra already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kyra isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kyra and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
