Lady Nessie Longlegs

Lurcher · Female · Young · 1 year

Nessie has recently been on a sleepover with her favourite staff member, Angie, and they both had the best time! Nessie proved that she loves her home comforts and relaxing. She enjoyed curling up on her bed while Angie watched TV and then having bedtime snuggles! She saw her reflection in the mirror for the first time and it was the cutest thing ever (we bet she was thinking who is that gorgeous girl!)! The neighbours had some chickens and a Shetland Pony who Nessie sniffed through the fence but then decided they were boring and showed no further interest in them. She slept the whole night with the exception of a few dramatic "big sighs", circles to reposition and flops back on the bed when Angie moved - she definitely loves her beauty sleep! The next day when Angie was getting ready for work, Nessie entertained herself with a chew. Nessie settled really well into a new environment and we think she is ready for her next a final move, into her forever home! Lady Nessie Longlegs is a sweet 2 year old Lurcher who can be on the shy side at first. Once you are friends, her cheeky personality quickly comes out! With her best human friends she loves a chest scratch and will even boop you with her nose for more if you stop! Nessie loves searching for leafy twigs to pick up on her walks- she loves nature! She is also a big foodie and loves her treats! We don't have much information on Nessie's background but we see a very sweet and sensitive girl who can be shy of new people and situations. She would better suit a home with older teenagers and above and owners who are willing to go at her pace to help build her confidence when exploring new things. Nessie has recently made a few doggy friends and has a great friendship with Layton Longlegs, a beautiful and gentle Greyhound. We think she would be able to live with another dog of a similar size. Nessie is the sweetest girl and would love a family that can help her flourish in her forever home. AWE licence number 13090 by West Lothian Council.

About Lady Nessie Longlegs

What life with Lady Nessie Longlegs looks like

Lady Nessie Longlegs is a large young adult lurcher dog waiting at Dogs Trust West Calder in West Calder.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lady Nessie Longlegs, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lady Nessie Longlegs?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust West Calder handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lady Nessie Longlegs on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lady Nessie Longlegs if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust West Calder will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lady Nessie Longlegs already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lady Nessie Longlegs isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust West Calder early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lady Nessie Longlegs and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
