Laguna

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Description Our animal welfare workers report: Laguna appeared one day hungry and thirsty in the olive grove behind the animal shelter. The animal protectors fed Laguna every day to win her trust. At first, Laguna kept her distance, as the strangers were not to her liking, but over time, she got used to the daily visits from the animal shelter staff and approached them cautiously. It was lovely to see how this cautious, imposing street dog opened up to the animal welfare workers. After being fed for about two months, the feisty beauty willingly came to the refuge and settled in. At the animal shelter, Laguna showed herself to be a somewhat shy but also adaptable female dog who can quickly adjust to new situations. Now, Laguna has built trust and enjoys being petted, she is very playful, gentle, and gets along with all the other dogs at the animal shelter. Laguna only needed a little time to show her wonderful nature. If Laguna gets her travel arrangements ticket, she will need some time to adjust to life in her new home and will require patient, loving people. We hope she finds a home where she can fully bloom! Who would like to show this friendly female dog how wonderful a home of her own, where she is respected and loved, can be? We are sure Laguna will return much kindness and love and will gladly share her big heart. Update: 25.04.2026 New Pictures 17.02.2026 New Pictures from the November 2025 Visit. Laguna has a few extra grams on her ribs. Regular walks would do her a lot of good. Who will give this loving female dog a HOME? 30.07.2025 New Text, New Pictures, New Video. Laguna now walks well on the leash, although she is still a bit shy. She can now enjoy cuddles and we are sure that once she finds a family that showers her with love, she will lose her shyness.

About Laguna

What life with Laguna looks like

Laguna is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Laguna, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Laguna?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Laguna on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Laguna if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Laguna already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Laguna isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Laguna and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
