Laia

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 8 years

Laia is a 20 kilogram Jindo mixed breed dog who came to the shelter in July 2020. We found her on the street with a leather collar, so we thought she belonged to someone. Unfortunately, her microchip had no owner information, and no one came to pick her up. Fortunately, Laia and her friend Jake kept each other company during their stay at the shelter. The lovely Laia is an absolutely majestic queen with a pair of beautiful hazelnut brown eyes that make her look like a fairy tale character in the sun! Together with her friendly and calm temperament, Laia would feel at home in almost any forever home! Here are some volunteer reports about Laia: "Laia is extremely friendly and loves hugs and kisses. She likes to walk and explore, but doesn't have excessive energy. A well-mannered and beautiful lady." "Laia is very curious about everything! Her nose rarely points in a different direction than down to pick up all sorts of smells during the walk. She takes treats gently from the hand and radiates an independent lady. She didn't want to go back into the house and sat down when she realized we were going home. I had to lift her up and carry her in!" During the shelter's move to the new shelter location in Yongin, Laia and Jake had the honor of being cuddled by a famous Korean actor, Kiwoo Lee, who came to help at our new shelter! Yes, Jake and Laia have the approval of a celebrity! These two cuddly dogs have certainly proven that after so many years of patient waiting at the shelter, they deserve every love from a family. The Korean animal welfare workers prepare the dogs well for a home. They are house-trained, social and friendly. The dogs go to foster homes in Korea so they can quickly feel safe and secure in a home. If you are interested in Laia, please download the corresponding self-disclosure and send it to us completed. Thank you! Laia is looking forward to your inquiry! ♥ More information: the dogs come to Germany with flight sponsors via Traces and the prescribed health documents. They are vaccinated, chipped and dewormed. The animal welfare concerns and the statutory requirements are strictly adhered to. Important information: The exact date of birth will be communicated shortly before the flight, we only know the year of birth.

About Laia

What life with Laia looks like

Laia is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at German Hands meet Korean Paws e.V. in Ebstorf.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Laia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Laia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. German Hands meet Korean Paws e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Laia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Laia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — German Hands meet Korean Paws e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Laia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Laia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with German Hands meet Korean Paws e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Laia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
