adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Laila has found her home! Her story: Laila was found with her sister Vanilla alone on the streets at just four weeks old – too young to survive on her own. Despite this difficult start, she shows a cheerful, open, and loving nature today. With her white and pink fur, curious gaze, and gentle expression, she is a little magic mouse that you can't help but fall in love with right away. She is playful, cuddly, and loves human company. Laila enjoys attention, seeks out contact, and is friendly and open to both big and small two-legged beings. She also gets along wonderfully with other dogs and finds cats very interesting and friendly. As Laila has only known the shelter so far, she needs a home that can patiently and positively explain how life in a family works. She still needs to learn the complete puppy ABC: house training, leash walking, car rides, new places, new people, and all the everyday noises a little puppy must learn to make sense of. And of course, puberty will come, in which she, like any young puppy, will become more self-assured, curious to test boundaries, and sometimes develop little schemes. With loving consistency, humor, and clear structures, she will master this phase wonderfully. Although Laila was initially thought to be a mix of a guardian or herding dog, she turns out to be a smaller Bichon mix who wants to remain dainty and be an absolute family dog. Bichons are friendly, people-oriented, eager to learn, and clingy – perfect companions who bond closely with their people and are always around in everyday life. For Laila, an affectionate home with time, affection, and playful engagement would be ideal. A garden would be nice, but not necessary – more important are security, clear routines, and people who want to grow together with her. Laila travels microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, flea-treated, and with an EU pet passport after a positive adoption. The adoption fee is 500 Euros. A huge thank you to the children of the "Around the Dog" course at Louise-Schroeder-School in Hamburg! You named Laila and helped her take the first step into a new life. As of: 03.12.

Stand: 03.12.2025

About Laila

What life with Laila looks like

Laila is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Laila, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Laila?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Laila on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Laila if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Laila already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Laila isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Laila and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
