Lainey

Female Β· Young Β· 1 year

Meet delightful Lainey - she is a bundle of energy who take a little time to trust people but once she does, she's a friend for life and loves a fuss. Lainey sometimes struggles to control her excitement around other dogs, resulting in her barking at them when she's out walking. She is happy to greet dogs and enjoys a game but needs to live as the only dog at home as she can be a little bit controlling with some of her interactions and would just prefer all of the attention and space to herself. Lainey has been anxious around some new people and is very clear when she is worried; either trying to move away or barking at them. With a gentle approach and space when she needs it however, she makes friends and particularly enjoys a game with her favourite fluffy toys. When out on walks she'll sometimes be wary of passing people so would enjoy quieter walks, at least to start with, where she can have some space to take in her surroundings. She's a very intelligent dog and thrives on being kept busy and having fun activities to do. She takes huge joy from running round one of our secure paddocks chasing toys or snuffling around in the sandpit, as you can see from her photos. Once she has used up some of her energy she can settle and enjoy a snooze on her bed. She has been spending some time in our offices and is often keen to help with typing given the opportunity, jumping up onto a lap to watch the world go by. Lainey has found adjusting to a routine in kennels a but difficult at times and she'll need understanding owners who are prepared to give her time to settle in at home as well as give her a calmer home without lots of visitors coming and going. Lainey is a bright spark with alot to offer her new owners, and will be alot of fun for a family who appreciate the big Terrier character. About Lainey

What life with Lainey looks like

Lainey is a small young adult dog waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lainey, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lainey?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lainey on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lainey if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Lainey already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lainey isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lainey and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
