Lajosmizse mama

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

A request for help came from Lajosmizsér, where an elderly owner passed away and a mother dog was left with six puppies without care. A neighbor visited to feed them, but a permanent solution was needed. Our mama from Lajosmizsér is a young female large mixed breed dog born around 2022 who has been acting like a real lioness, protecting and raising her puppies. However, her puppies have now grown up and are looking for new owners, so our mama also needs to find a new owner. Our mama is not an easy case, very shy, and after several months we managed to get her to accept treats from our hand. She also has health problems, her right eye is seriously injured, which will probably need to be removed later, and additionally, she tested positive for heartworm. It's a tough situation, but we know she will recover and we hope someone will adopt her and let her finally live as a beloved family member.

About Lajosmizse mama

What life with Lajosmizse mama looks like

Lajosmizse mama is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Noé Állatotthon in Budapest.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Severely injured right eye requiring likely removal, heartworm positive, requires medical treatment and experienced owner

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lajosmizse mama, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lajosmizse mama?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Noé Állatotthon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lajosmizse mama on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lajosmizse mama if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Noé Állatotthon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lajosmizse mama already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lajosmizse mama isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Noé Állatotthon early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lajosmizse mama and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
