adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Lana has found her forever home! Her story: Our sweet mouse Lana, who was abandoned on the roadside and had a harsh start in life, was able to travel to a foster home a few weeks ago. Her development there makes us very happy: The initially shy and timid female dog becomes braver every day and is clearly making big strides toward adulthood. Next to a confident fur-nose, Lana is currently learning the lessons of the Puppy ABC diligently—and, above all, very successfully. Walking on a harness and on a leash already works quite problemlessly. She loves long walks over everything, even though she is occasionally still a bit fearful when she meets many people. Here, calmness and a secure demeanor help. She also practices driving the cuddly Lana, and she is already almost house-trained, with only a few minor mishaps. The experiences at her foster home show: Our little whirlwind discovers and observes with great interest. She loves nature and would like to further develop between forests, fields, and meadows. A confident first dog by her side would be a lottery win with a bonus ball—but it is not a must. What is important, however, is an experienced and sensitive life companion on whom she can orient herself and who can give her the calm and certainty that everything is in order when she is uncertain or fearful. Would the loving, cuddly, and cheerful Lana complete your life puzzle? She would love to show you what she has already learned. Her luggage is packed: She brings her EU pet passport, is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. A heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Kaiser-Schmidt: You not only gave Lana a pretty name but also a valuable identity! Date: 05.09.

Stand: 05.09.2025

About Lana

What life with Lana looks like

Lana is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lana, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lana?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lana on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lana if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lana already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lana isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lana and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
