Lana

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 6 years

Lana was found completely alone and emaciated by a courageous animal rights activist. Her body bore the scars of human cruelty. We can only imagine the hardships she endured in her past. But one thing is certain: Lana's rescue came at the last minute. When the activist found her, Lana was initially very shy and fearful. Given her past, this is only understandable. However, she was given the time she needed and was allowed to move in with her rescuer. There, she was lovingly cared for and was able to slowly recover from the hardships of her previous life. It was a long and intense journey, but Lana showed what a wonderful dog she is. From a fearful and completely weakened dog, she became a joyful, life-loving and energetic companion. Today, she enjoys her new life and shows more and more of her great personality. Lana is initially cautious around strangers and needs a moment to gain trust. But those who give her the time she needs will quickly realize how lovable she is. After a short time, Lana opens up and shows her friendly and open side. She is very open, friendly and enjoys the closeness to her humans. Lana is about 6 years old, about 50 cm tall and weighs approximately 25 kg. She is an active dog who finally wants to experience the good things in life after everything she has been through. She would be very happy with joint walks, activities, adventures and of course cozy moments with her humans. We would like to emphasize that Lana is absolutely compatible. She meets other dogs friendly and socially and generally has no problem with her fellow dogs. Unfortunately, she is not accepted by the five dogs already present in her current home and therefore cannot stay there in the long term. We are now urgently looking for a suitable home where she can finally really arrive. We wish Lana people who give her the security and time she needs. People who understand that trust must sometimes grow, and who will appreciate it all the more when Lana opens her heart to them. She has already achieved so much and has retained her joie de vivre despite her terrible past. Lana had a very difficult start in life. But her story should not end with suffering and fear. She should finally experience what it feels like to be loved, safe and welcome. She has fought her way back into life - now all she needs is a home where she can stay forever. Who will give this brave dog a chance at her very own happy ending? Attention: We do not mediate our dogs to Vienna city center! We will take care of the processing as soon as possible!

DE·Show original

About Lana

What life with Lana looks like

Lana is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Arme Hundeseelen in Năsăud.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇷🇴Adopting from Romania

Romanian rescues handle the highest volume of cross-border adoptions in the EU. Animals are quarantined and fully vetted before transport. Reputable rescues maintain detailed health records and post-adoption follow-up.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lana, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lana?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Arme Hundeseelen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lana on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lana if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Arme Hundeseelen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lana already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lana isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Arme Hundeseelen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lana and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
