Adopt Lando

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

animal rescuer: Virginia Georgieva born: around April 2025 Gender: male Location: Bulgaria neutered: yes FIV-Test: negative FeLV-Test: negative Handicaps: no compatible with: Children: unknown Cats: yes Dogs: unknown Requirements: NO solitary confinement, suitable for apartment living, NO free-roaming. A balcony or terrace is desirable (if available, safety measures are required). Lando and his brother lived together on the street – we don't know whether they were born there or abandoned. A volunteer caught the two to have them neutered. However, Virginia couldn't bring herself to return the young tomcats to the street. She took the brothers into the animal shelter, giving them a chance at a safe life – and perhaps soon, a home of their own where they would be loved. Lando is still a cautious tomcat who needs time to build trust. His past experiences make him uncertain in unfamiliar situations, causing him to be rather reserved. In the animal shelter, he has made some small progress: when Virginia approaches him, he allows gentle cuddles and can now tolerate this closeness a little, though he remains reserved. Lando gets along well with other cats – their presence gives him security and helps him navigate daily life better. Lando is a cat for special people – for the patient, the listeners, and the understanding. He is looking for a quiet home without pressure, where he can observe from a safe distance and see if it feels right. Lando is not a bold adventurer but a gentle soul. He needs someone who will explore the world with him step by step and give him the time he needs to settle in.

About Lando

What life with Lando looks like

Lando is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Glücksnasen e.V. Tierschutzverein in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lando, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lando?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Glücksnasen e.V. Tierschutzverein handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lando on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lando if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Glücksnasen e.V. Tierschutzverein will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lando already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lando isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Glücksnasen e.V. Tierschutzverein early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lando and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
