Langstrumpf &#8211

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 15 years

Also Longstocking is still on the search for her true people, just like her brother Zefir and her sister Pippi. She and her two siblings are the survivors of a 6-pup litter. They were found abandoned in a backyard in Charkiv and were brought up in the local animal clinic. They suffered from gastrointestinal tract infections, which is why Longstocking and her siblings need gut-friendly food. In late April 2022, they were allowed to board the evacuation transport to Starnberg. Longstocking and her sister Pippi are exceptionally smart, full of energy, agile, and playful. She is initially a bit shy, carefully observing and studying the human counterpart. She has not yet initiated direct body contact with people but is always friendly and interested, and will allow herself to be leashed by familiar persons. Pippi and Longstocking can also be rehomed separately. As they have a prey drive, a longer and intensive training on the lead will be necessary. Their people should be ready to earn Longstocking’s trust. Longstocking would greatly appreciate active, sporty, and engaged people with a good understanding of dogs who can physically and mentally challenge her. Longstocking can certainly be integrated into a family with larger, understanding children from around 15 years of age as well as with other friendly animals. Whether Longstocking is cat-friendly has not yet been tested, but with professional guidance from a dog trainer, this is certainly possible. As she has not learned much in her previous life, a visit to dog training classes or a dog trainer is strongly recommended. Longstocking’s past was marked by the theme of survival, with no time for one-on-one dog training. She should now be able to make up for that with patient, kindly-knowledgeable hands that can foster, challenge, and set boundaries without overwhelming her. We are very happy that Longstocking has finally found a forever home! We wish her and her new owners all the best in the world! If you are interested in this animal, you can send us a message via the contact form or contact us by phone.

About Langstrumpf &#8211

What life with Langstrumpf &#8211 looks like

Langstrumpf &#8211 is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Starnberg in Starnberg.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Langstrumpf &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Langstrumpf &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Starnberg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Langstrumpf &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Langstrumpf &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Starnberg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Langstrumpf &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Langstrumpf &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Starnberg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Langstrumpf &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
