Adopt Lasca

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 9 years

Name Lasca Born 2017/2018 Gender female dog Breed mixed breed Size approx. 45 cm, too thin foster home Lasca is still in a foreign country with our animal protection friends. Lasca is presented on our homepage at the request of her godmother. She can be adopted through the animal welfare association Pro Dog Romania. We are happy to provide mediation assistance. The ages mentioned here often refer to estimates, as we do not always know the exact age. Other information, such as size, is subjective. The pretty female dog lives in a large Romanian animal shelter. During the last volunteer visit, it was noted that she is much too thin… not good conditions to survive the Romanian winter… each year the dogs spend there drains immense energy… and given the conditions in the kennel, some dogs do not even have access to water and food… It is now time for Lasca to find people who will show her with patience and understanding how wonderful a dog life can be. The local animal protectors describe Lasca as follows: ran out of her hut as we entered the kennel and frantically drank water. She is much too thin and seems to have little access to food and water. At first, she reacted very fearfully to us, but as she observed us giving treats to other dogs, she became more interested and looked around a lot. With some time, she took treats out of our hands as well. She would likely thaw out a bit more with more time, but she is overall an insecure and currently not approachable female dog who shows no issues with several other dogs in her kennel. According to her ear tag, she has been in the shelter since 2018. The friendly and very interested LASCA is no longer too thin and is no longer a crisis case. Unfortunately, she is still very insecure in contact with humans. She ate the treat in our presence and observed the other dogs in the kennel as they reacted to our interactions. But when we approached her, she would always flee. She lives in a mixed pack, which seems to work well. LASCA would certainly be happy to have a sovereign only dog. Additionally, she is looking for people who are comfortable handling insecure dogs and have a lot of patience. About Lasca

What life with Lasca looks like

Lasca is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. in Zornheim.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lasca, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lasca?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lasca on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lasca if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lasca already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lasca isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lasca and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
