Lau

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

Lau, a female dog, was taken into our care based on a public report. She was walking the streets of Celldömölk with her companion, Ruffi, until they were finally safe. Lau was born in February 2023. She is still a bit shy, approaching new situations and people cautiously, but she is making progress on the path of trust. We have started to train her to walk on a leash, and she is becoming bolder and handling new situations more skillfully every day. Patience and a predictable environment are particularly important for Lau. We believe that in a calm, loving family where she receives the necessary time and attention, she would soon open up and show her kind, affectionate side. We are looking for a guardian for her who does not expect her to be immediately confident, but who will be happy to accompany her through her development. Who she can feel safe with, and who can become a loyal, loving companion over time. You can inquire about her at the address. Additional photos can be found HERE! About Lau

What life with Lau looks like

Lau is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Noé Állatotthon in Budapest.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lau, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lau?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Noé Állatotthon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lau on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lau if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Noé Állatotthon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lau already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lau isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Noé Állatotthon early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lau and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
