Adopt Lava (w)

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

Lava is a young female dog, born around 2023, about 55 cm tall – and exactly one of the dogs that unfortunately are overlooked way too often. ⚫ Black. 🐕 Medium-sized. 🌫️ Unobtrusive. She was discovered during the visit of our German animal welfare colleague on-site in Romania, who deliberately set out to find exactly these dogs: the invisible ones. The ones who live quietly in the background and never catch anyone's attention, even though they have such wonderful souls. ✨ Lava currently lives in the private shelter of the association Ador in Botoșani, Romania – 🇷🇴 and she immediately captured our hearts. Because Lava is simply adorable. 💕 A funny, friendly, and incredibly people-oriented female dog. As soon as someone approaches her pen, she is overjoyed, stretches her little paws through the bars, and seems to call out: "Please… notice me." 🥺 While Lava is not a quiet observer – she is an agile, lively female dog who wants to move. 🐕💨 She jumps through her pen with joy, runs back and forth excitedly, and can hardly believe her luck when someone finally pays attention to her. 🎾☀️ One can clearly see how much she longs for life, movement, and closeness. She loves attention, is delighted by every treat 🍖 and meets strangers openly and friendly. She wants to belong. To finally arrive. 🏡❤️ She also shows compatibility with her fellow animals. 🐶 Whether she can live with cats 🐱 can be tested upon serious interest. These cat tests are conducted upon request, as they involve a greater organizational effort on site. Of course, one must know: Lava has known almost only shelter life and her pen so far. She has not had the chance to learn much more. Life in Germany, a home, everyday sounds, walks, security and safety – all of this will be new to her and she will need time to learn everything. 🌍🍀 But with Lava, we have a particularly good feeling. ✨ She brings so much openness, joy in life, and trust. We wish for people who also have the eye for the invisible. 🖤 People who want to show Lava that life has more to offer than bars and shelter routine. Who will finally give this wonderful female dog the chance to start her life properly? 🐾❤️ ℹ️ LAVA is neutered, multi-vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and of course in possession of an EU passport.

——————————————— 📍

About Lava (w)

What life with Lava (w) looks like

Lava (w) is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. in Nürnberg.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lava (w), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lava (w)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lava (w) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lava (w) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lava (w) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lava (w) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lava (w) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
