Adopt LEILA & MALEK

Mixed Breed · Unknown

These two special cats are siblings and wish to find a loving home together. The tortoiseshell lady LEILA & MALEK is a true beauty. Her colorful fur looks like a little work of art from nature. Especially enchanting are her large, round, yellow gazing eyes, which look curiously and yet cautiously into the world. She is a sensitive girl who needs some time to build trust – but when she feels safe, she shows her gentle and affectionate side. She comes running curiously at feeding time, and these are the first moments in which she allows closeness. From there on out it will gradually increase... Her brother LEILA & MALEK is a big, impressive tomcat with deep black, glossy fur that almost gleams like velvet in the light. His warm, yellow eyes give him a particularly friendly expression. Despite his imposing appearance, he is a calm and sensitive tomcat who cautiously approaches new situations – but behind this reticence lies a very gentle heart. They are very attached to each other and give each other security. Therefore, they can only be rehomed together. In a quiet home with patient people, they will surely thaw out over time and become faithful companions for life. They are very social with other cats and can thus be added to existing cat families, though children should be older as the two cannot develop well in too much commotion. Cat-friendly dogs would not be a problem. In their new home, they should be allowed to have free run again. However, if there is unrestricted free run, it should ideally be in a rural area far away from heavily trafficked streets. Free run where there is a lot of traffic even in a quiet residential area is not an option for them. After all, they have had no experience with traffic so far and as curious and still rather young cats, they would surely be too carefree on the move. However, a well-secured garden would also be a good option, since they are two of them. If you are interested in the two siblings, simply send us an email or use our contact form. You can reach both of them by phone (also WhatsApp). A quick note for your own sake: Please include your phone number directly in your inquiry, and if you plan to provide free run, please also include your address. Briefly introduce yourself and the new home as well. We present our cats based on the best of our knowledge and conscience. Thank you! Clicking on the photo enlarges the view. This cat needs outdoor access.

About LEILA & MALEK

What life with LEILA & MALEK looks like

LEILA & MALEK is a large adult mixed breed cat waiting at Katzenzuflucht e.V. in Much.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting LEILA & MALEK, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about LEILA & MALEK?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Katzenzuflucht e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw LEILA & MALEK on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt LEILA & MALEK if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Katzenzuflucht e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is LEILA & MALEK already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if LEILA & MALEK isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Katzenzuflucht e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know LEILA & MALEK and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
