Adopt Leni & Loris

European Shorthair · Unknown · 11 months

Like most of our charges, siblings Leni and Loris came to us as stray cats. At first, the two wanted nothing to do with us humans – understandably, as life on the streets is tough and trust must be earned. With a lot of love and patience, we have shown them that humans can also be kind. Today, Leni and Loris are not yet typical cuddly cats, but they are making great progress and beginning to build trust. Now we wish for the two of them a home where they are given time to settle in and open up even more. Whoever gives them this chance will get to know two wonderful cats who open their hearts a little more every day. 🐾 Special features: Still a bit shy, but curious and playful ➡️ We are looking for: A loving home with patience and understanding – only together Important: After an adjustment period, Leni and Loris definitely want to enjoy outdoor access again – in a safe environment, far from main roads or heavily trafficked streets. If you would like to give Leni and Loris a safe and loving home, please contact us. The two are waiting to finally find their own happiness!

About Leni & Loris

What life with Leni & Loris looks like

Leni & Loris is a large adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierschutzverein für den Kreis Altenkirchen e.V. in Daaden.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Leni & Loris, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Leni & Loris?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein für den Kreis Altenkirchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Leni & Loris on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Leni & Loris if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein für den Kreis Altenkirchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Leni & Loris already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Leni & Loris isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein für den Kreis Altenkirchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Leni & Loris and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
