Adopt Leni

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy

Name Leni Born 16.01.2026 Gender female dog Breed mixed breed Size will be medium foster home Leni is still in the country with our Romanian animal welfare friends in Campulung. She can travel once we find a foster home (preferably with adoption intentions) in the Mainz/Wiesbaden area. The ages mentioned here are often estimates, as we don't always know the exact age. Other details like size are subjective. Abandoned in a cardboard box outside the animal shelter, Oana found us. We were very sick: our bellies full of worms and our skin covered in wounds. But I have fought alongside my siblings Marla, Benny, Gismo, and Elli! So far, I have developed into an alert, very curious puppy. I am a true climber and have often tried to climb out of the enclosure. So I am not only active but also intelligent and rather sporty! A new life in a caring family that not only tolerates but loves my mischief would make me very happy! I have not yet had a home and thus have not yet experienced dog training, leash walking, house training, etc. Patience, understanding, love, and positive training will be needed for me to adapt to my new everyday life with all the new environmental stimuli. We are looking for people who are willing to take on the adventure of an international dog and give him a second chance at a responsible home. The Tierehim in Campulung is also supported by the organization. If you do not live in our catchment area, it is possible to adopt a Fellnase through Seelenhunde. For more information on this great dog, please fill out the Referral Form or call us at the phone number provided. Here are a few pictures. To enlarge, please click on an image.

About Leni

What life with Leni looks like

Leni is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. in Zornheim.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Leni, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Leni?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Leni on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Leni if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Leni already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Leni isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Leni and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
