adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Lenka-Lou has found her people! Her story: Here comes Lenka-Lou, Sini, and Yula, three super sweet sisters, currently housed in a private foster home in Bistrita. They are waiting there for loving people who want to give them a home of their own. The magical, little Lenka-Lou with the big dark eyes is one of three sisters who initially found refuge in a private foster home in Romania. Of course, she is safe there for now, but she still wants to learn so much in her new home. The currently 3.5-month-old female dog is about to go through puberty, which means that her future owners will have to experience a phase with her where patience and understanding are often more than usual. At the moment, she is open to people and likes to cuddle. She can be picked up and is a curious and happy puppy. We are sure that she can become a friendly and good-natured family dog, she just needs the right family. Currently, Lenka-Lou is about 3.5 months old. She is likely to stay small when she grows up. Deciding to take in a puppy should, however, be well thought out and carefully planned. Raising a young puppy who hasn't learned much yet and doesn't know what it's like to be a family dog can sometimes be challenging. A good idea would be to attend positive dog training classes with Lenka-Lou after the adjustment period in the new home. This would, for example, strengthen her self-confidence and bond with her new people. Who finds Lenka-Lou as charming as we do and wants to give her a happy life? A heartfelt thank you goes to Shudatha, she is Lenka-Lou's godmother. As of 28.08. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Stand: 28.08.2024

About Lenka-Lou

What life with Lenka-Lou looks like

Lenka-Lou is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lenka-Lou, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lenka-Lou?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lenka-Lou on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lenka-Lou if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lenka-Lou already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lenka-Lou isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lenka-Lou and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
