Leo + Jane

European Shorthair · Unknown

Leo and Jane have gotten to know and love each other here - we would not like to part them. Leo suffers from a strong pancreatitis, which will likely never fully heal. He therefore receives a lot of medication and additives to ensure he gets all the nutrients he needs. Additionally, he often cannot make it to the toilet and soiling occurs at several different spots. Usually, it’s the same spots, so one can prepare well with laying down towels. Nevertheless, a new owner must be fully prepared for this. Furthermore, Leo will not grow much more due to this. Otherwise, Leo is one of the most beloved tomcats we have ever come to know. Jane is initially skeptical with strangers but warms up completely after some time. The two are, of course, still very young and may certainly turn the place upside down at times, but in a loving way. Also, the two like to play with us humans.

About Leo + Jane

What life with Leo + Jane looks like

Leo + Jane is a large adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierheim Wuppertal in Wuppertal.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Leo + Jane, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Leo + Jane?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Wuppertal handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Leo + Jane on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Leo + Jane if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Wuppertal will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Leo + Jane already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Leo + Jane isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Wuppertal early rather than rehoming privately; they know Leo + Jane and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
