Leo

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 10 years

History of Leo came to us as a puppy one cold winter. He looked more like a skeleton than a dog. His condition was terrible, but he did not give up, but quickly trusted - he felt that we wanted to help him, that we were fighting for him. From the beginning, he was a gentle, affectionate, cuddly dog, despite all the evil that humans had done to him. He remained like this until today. Now he is an adult dog, but still extremely cheerful, loyal to people and kind. He is one of those dogs with whom you can spend wonderful time on walks, cuddles and lying around. Leo constantly seeks approval from people, tries and strives to meet their expectations. In addition to people, Leo also gets along very well with female dogs. He would like to live with a large, stable female dog. Every day in the hotel, he supports more withdrawn and unsure dogs, amusing them and giving them courage. However, he does not like male dogs and cats. He can live with children of school age. Leo lives in a hotel near Raciborz.

PL·Show original

Pozostał taki do dziś.

About Leo

What life with Leo looks like

Leo is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Zwierzęca Polana in Warszawa.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Leo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Leo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Zwierzęca Polana handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Leo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Leo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Zwierzęca Polana will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Leo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Leo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Zwierzęca Polana early rather than rehoming privately; they know Leo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
