adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Leo has found his luck! His story: Sweet Welpen band on the lookout for a beautiful life! Fortunately, we could save Dogmom Graziella and her children Franzl, Leo, Puschel, Saphira, Smilla, Odin, Leevi, and Humphrey from certain death. Originally, she had one more baby, but unfortunately, it did not make it and passed away. The dog family's fate was similar to that of many other dogs in Romania; they were not wanted and were abandoned in a ditch. We believe that Graziella had a home before. When the owners found out she was pregnant, they were ejected along with their puppies. All eight siblings came into the public shelter. Unfortunately, Humphrey and Odin became so ill that they could not recover and passed away in the shelter. The other siblings are now desperately searching for a place to escape the shelter and have a chance at a beautiful life. The band is currently about 5 months old and will likely grow to a large size, around 60cm, like their mom. The handsome, black Leo not only impresses with his cute appearance but also with his charming nature. With this, he simply wins everyone over. He is still puppy-like in his wakefulness and always ready for adventures, a round of play with his fellow animals, or extensive cuddle sessions. After the clumsy puppy phase, puberty follows. During this time, he will sometimes put his owners to the test and test his limits. 🙂 It would certainly be time to find new friends in dog training classes and finally learn something – maybe with you? He is eager to learn the dog ABC and form new friendships. We believe that the entire rascal band is a mix of herding dog breeds. For an adoption, it is important that the new people familiarize themselves with the characteristics of herding dog breeds and ideally live in a rural environment. An enclosed yard where he can move freely and play would be ideal for him. These breeds are confident and willful dogs that require a loving but consistent upbringing. He is vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and treated for fleas, and he also brings his own EU pet passport. For an adoption fee of 500 Euros, Leo can move in. A foster home would also be very helpful for him so he can develop well. Has Leo also bewitched you? Many thanks to Cati, who gave Leo his name. Many thanks to Leon S.! You support Leo with a monthly sponsorship! As of: 11.04.

Vielen Dank Cati, du hast Leo seinen Namen geschenkt. Vielen Dank Leon S.! Du unterstützt Leo mit einer monatlichen Patenschaft! Stand: 11.04.2025

About Leo

What life with Leo looks like

Leo is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Leo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Leo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Leo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Leo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Leo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Leo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Leo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
