Leo

Mixed Breed · Male

Leo is an extremely pleasant and polite gentleman. He looks like a proper cat should: strong paws, a large round head, a fluffy body. However, his character is not at all like the typical grumpy or aggressive cat. Lovable-Leo, Cute-Leo, Pet-Leo - a good child has many names and Leo quickly became the favorite of many volunteers. As a gentleman, he does not meow or make a noise to attract attention, but sits politely and waits for his turn, perhaps occasionally asking with a soft baritone: Nääu? (Translation: How are you? Do you need help?). When the volunteer finally directs their attention to Leo, the gentleman opens his heart, rubs his head against the volunteer's hand to get a pat and then stretches. Leo had a eye infection during this time and had to have his eyes washed, both with eye drops and ointment. Obviously, this is not a pleasant procedure for the cat. Naturally, Leo made it clear that he was not happy, tried to walk away during treatment, and on a couple of occasions, his angry urination could be heard. But did Leo try to bite or scratch the volunteer - certainly not, because gentlemen do not behave like that! If at the same time, the winter and gossip are talked about, Leo allows all necessary procedures to be done. Leo trusts people and he needs a friend in the heart who will never betray this trust.

ET·Show original

On abi vaja?). Ilmselgelt pole see kassi jaoks meeldiv protseduur. LL

About Leo

What life with Leo looks like

Leo is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at MTÜ Tartu Kassikaitse in Tartu.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇪🇪Adopting from Estonia

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Leo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Leo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. MTÜ Tartu Kassikaitse handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Leo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Leo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — MTÜ Tartu Kassikaitse will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Leo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Leo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with MTÜ Tartu Kassikaitse early rather than rehoming privately; they know Leo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ET). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
