Léon

Male · Senior · 18 years

Leon is looking for a family for his golden years, his owners are very elderly and can't manage anymore!! Leon is a magnificent pure-bred French Bulldog, small in size and with a pedigree, his soft spotted white fur invites cuddles right away. Léon is a sweet, affectionate, and calm dog, always accustomed to apartment life. As the years have passed, he has become even wiser, he doesn't love the heat nor long walks, preferring the comfort of a cozy home and the company of people. In return, he has a real passion for tomato pasta, which he considers one of the great joys of life. This habit should be removed immediately as it would be much better to feed him properly. Leon is old but in good health, vaccinated, neutered, and with an EU (Italian) passport. He was born in France, but after many years in Ticino, he has learned the Ticinese dialect perfectly… Today, he is looking for a special family that can offer him serenity, affection, and a quiet place to spend his last years. Remember that a dog of this breed can easily reach 16 or 18 years if well cared for and fed correctly. In return, he will offer discreet company, much sweetness, and the sincere love that only a dog like him can give. If you think you can open your heart and home to Leon, he is ready to meet you. He knows children and would be entrusted to families with children starting from 8 years of age. Visible in Lugano by appointment, available for adoption immediately after pre-adoption placement.

IT·Show original

About Léon

What life with Léon looks like

Léon is a small senior dog waiting at Via di Fuga – Associazione Adozione Cani in Lugano (TI).

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Léon, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Léon?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Via di Fuga – Associazione Adozione Cani handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Léon on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Léon if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Via di Fuga – Associazione Adozione Cani will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Léon already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Léon isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Via di Fuga – Associazione Adozione Cani early rather than rehoming privately; they know Léon and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
