Leon

Mixed Breed · Male

Leon is our new foster. He arrived at the animal shelter from the Kampinos commune at the end of June and immediately captivated everyone. The gentle look in his eyes behind the bars melts hearts, evokes smiles, and brings an instant desire to snuggle up to this fluffy giant. Though he’s a large dog, he’s exceptionally gentle with humans, enjoying close contact. While he’s not overly pushy, he eagerly uses his snout to press into a human’s armpit, snuggling in. Leon loves walks. He ambles by a human’s side as if he’s always done it. Who knows—maybe he has. Though no one wants to believe that anyone would want to get rid of this fantastic dog, they might. Therefore, the boy walks more or less by his human companion’s side, occasionally seeking contact. He responds to being called. However, he doesn’t react to passing people, bicycles, cars, or other dogs—even those barking behind the fence. We know he can sit—other commands, we haven’t tested yet. But he looks like a very eager student, especially being a young pup. Leon also very much enjoyed walks with his fellow kennel mate, Diun. They walk side by side, hand in hand. They can drink from the same bowl. When one reaches for pats, the other does the same. And when Diun falls behind, Leon immediately notices and patiently waits for Diun to catch up, ensuring the “pack” stays together. We don’t know Leon’s history before the animal shelter. We don’t know him very well yet. But we already know that we’re searching for him a wonderful home that will surround him with love and ensure he’s never lost again. So that the trust Leon still shows to people is rewarded.

Leon to nasz nowy podopieczny.

About Leon

What life with Leon looks like

Leon is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Leon, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Leon?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Leon on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Leon if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Leon already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Leon isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku early rather than rehoming privately; they know Leon and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
