Leopold *RESERVIERT*

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 9 years

Wonderful, dear tomcat seeks ambitious cat lovers. Leopold is an absolutely friendly, sweet, and cuddly tomcat—simply a great guy. We’ve since learned a bit about his background: Several years ago, he was apparently rehomed from Offenbach to Linsengericht. However, after he came to our animal shelter, unfortunately no one ever expressed interest in him. Perhaps that’s actually for the best in his case, because Leopold arrived at our shelter in less than ideal condition. We now know that Leopold has diabetes. Currently, we’re adjusting him to his diabetes medication. This means he receives a small injection twice daily—roughly every 12 hours. At the moment, we’re still regularly monitoring his blood sugar levels so that his treatment can be fine-tuned. In the long term, we aim for Leopold to receive his medication quite routinely, with only occasional check-ups needed to monitor his values. What’s especially important for a diabetic cat is consistent nutrition—and of course, we’ll provide detailed information and all the necessary advice on this topic. Ideally, we’d love to find a home for Leopold with people who already have experience caring for diabetic cats. But responsible individuals who are willing to get thoroughly educated are also very welcome to get in touch. Leopold really makes things easy for you: He lets himself be measured without any fuss, is affectionate and patient, and hardly notices the little diabetes injection when it’s given during mealtime. Since Leopold needs regular injections, he unfortunately can’t be an outdoor cat. Therefore, we’re looking for a home for him where he’ll live indoors—ideally with a secure balcony, a secured terrace, or supervised outdoor access. Leopold gets along well with other cats. Thanks to his wonderful character and loving nature, despite his illness, he has good chances of finding a suitable home. Yes, Leopold’s health isn’t entirely straightforward. But his amazing personality more than makes up for it all. He’s an absolute dream cat and truly deserves another chance to settle down happily and securely. If you’re interested in Leopold, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us. For details on the exact arrangements and further information about his condition, please contact Ms. Wink directly.BIOGRAPHYIn the shelter since May 20, 2026Age: Senior (12–15 years)Breed: EHK white-grayGender: Male, neuteredReason for surrender: Found as a second catNoOutdoor access: YesHousing: Indoor living with secured outdoor access/balconyShare this page

About Leopold *RESERVIERT*

What life with Leopold *RESERVIERT* looks like

Leopold *RESERVIERT* is a large adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierschutz Kinzig-Main e.V. (Tierheim Gelnhausen) in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Leopold *RESERVIERT*, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Leopold *RESERVIERT*?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutz Kinzig-Main e.V. (Tierheim Gelnhausen) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Leopold *RESERVIERT* on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Leopold *RESERVIERT* if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutz Kinzig-Main e.V. (Tierheim Gelnhausen) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Leopold *RESERVIERT* already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Leopold *RESERVIERT* isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutz Kinzig-Main e.V. (Tierheim Gelnhausen) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Leopold *RESERVIERT* and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
