Adopt Leroy

Mixed Breed Cat · Male · Adult · 8 years

Like many stray boys who come into our care each spring, Leroy had a rough start. He was brought to us with an injury from a cat bite, likely the result of a scuffle while competing for a female’s attention. Thankfully, those days are behind him. Leroy has made a full recovery and is now ready to find a calm, loving home where he can truly settle and thrive. When Leroy first arrived, he was understandably very nervous. But with time, patience, and kindness, he has blossomed into a wonderfully affectionate and gentle boy. Once he trusts you, his sweet nature really shines through. He will be rehomed on medication to help him with the transition into his new home, this will be weaned off when he is feeling more comfortable. Leroy is a quiet, sensitive cat who enjoys a peaceful environment. He loves a gentle fuss and will happily soak up attention on his own terms. He has the softest, sweetest little meow that he uses to communicate with his favourite people. Food is definitely the way to his heart—especially treats! Leroy is a big fan of Dreamies and would gladly enjoy as many as you’re willing to offer. We are looking for a calm, patient home for this special boy where he can continue to build his confidence. A quieter household without too much hustle and bustle would suit him best. He would do well with someone who understands that he may need a little time to settle, but who will be rewarded with a loving and loyal companion. Outdoor access is required for Leroy, as he likes to be out and about taking in the day. About Leroy

What life with Leroy looks like

Leroy is a large adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at Bristol Animal Rescue Centre in Bristol.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Leroy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Leroy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Bristol Animal Rescue Centre handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Leroy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Leroy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Bristol Animal Rescue Centre will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Leroy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Leroy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Bristol Animal Rescue Centre early rather than rehoming privately; they know Leroy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
