Levin ♂ 🇩🇪

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 12 years

Levin, From Shadow to Light Levin spent most of his life on a chain or had to assert himself in the stressful animal shelter routine. But those who think that this has soured him are greatly mistaken: Over the years, he has preserved his attentive and affectionate character. He greets all people with kindness and openness, which touches one deeply. Despite his past, he adapts well to his new routine and shows his best side: He accompanies foster parents to the office and supports them there with calming snoring sounds in the stressful daily routine. Driving is no problem for him: He willingly jumps in and enjoys the ride. At home, he likes to curl up in his blanket or on the sofa, and household noises do not stress him out. He already runs well on a leash and can be called back. No wonder, because he wants to please his people! He is well socialized with other dogs. His absolute favorite activity is cuddling. Who can blame him? Affection comes to him like a sponge, because until now he has not had much of it. Despite his age of 12 years, he does not belong to the old guard; he is still interested in walks, although they do not have to be too long. Generosity and good nature are his strengths. Being present and being seen make him happy. The occasional treat naturally enhances this happiness. Levin would also get along well with nice children. Who would give the dear Levin a chance at his first real life? He does not expect much, just a cozy spot, security, and affection. This would be enough for this medium-sized, neutered male dog (approximately 50–55 cm, 18 kg). He still has many beautiful years ahead and would be happy to give his love and affection to a sturdy senior or, gladly also, to new dog owners.

About Levin ♂ 🇩🇪

What life with Levin ♂ 🇩🇪 looks like

Levin ♂ 🇩🇪 is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Hundehilfe Hinterland e.V. in Biedenkopf.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Levin ♂ 🇩🇪, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Levin ♂ 🇩🇪?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Hundehilfe Hinterland e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Levin ♂ 🇩🇪 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Levin ♂ 🇩🇪 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Hundehilfe Hinterland e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Levin ♂ 🇩🇪 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Levin ♂ 🇩🇪 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Hundehilfe Hinterland e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Levin ♂ 🇩🇪 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
