Lex

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 4 years

Lex is a 24.7 kg male mixed-breed dog who is friendly but sometimes unsure around strangers. Once he trusts someone, he becomes very affectionate and enjoys interacting with his caregivers. He is sensitive and needs people who approach him with calmness, understanding, and clear guidance. Lex is eager to learn and already has good basic obedience, but he is strongly attached to his humans and requires consistent, yet loving, direction in everyday life. He shows territorial tendencies in the home environment. On a leash, he sometimes reacts to frustration with other dogs, which can manifest as leash aggression. Direct contact with other dogs has not been tested, but it is currently assumed that he would be happiest as a single dog in a home. A quiet home with experienced dog owners who can provide him with security and continue to patiently support his development is sought for Lex. Country of origin (where the dog is currently located): Switzerland Breeding country: Romania Contact address: TIERHEIM ZÜRCHER TIERSCHUTZ Zürichbergstrasse 263, 8044 Zürich www.zuerchertierschutz.ch

Rasse: Mischling Farbe: braun-weiss Alter: 10.04.2022 Geschlecht: männlich Kastriert: Ja Verzichtgrund: s. About Lex

What life with Lex looks like

Lex is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Berner Tierzentrum in Switzerland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lex, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lex?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Berner Tierzentrum handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lex on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lex if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Berner Tierzentrum will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lex already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lex isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Berner Tierzentrum early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lex and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
