Adopt Leya (Лея)

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 11 years

KYIV AND KYIV REGION! Looking for a family! This is Leah, one of our residents, who came to the animal shelter with her sister Maya, already teenagers. Maya was taken by kind people, they loved her, but she died from cancer. There were, as we thought, very good calls for Leah, people made arrangements and did not come. We remember every call. So Leah remains in the animal shelter. The more rarely we present her here, the more the hope that she will one day have a home is fading each day. By character, Leah is a very active dog, knows basic commands, walks well on a leash. She will not bite strangers, but will make a lot of noise. She has such a quality, if a person likes her, they will love her to the point of obsession, and if they don't like her, they will never do so. She is good in all aspects. The owner will be very loyal. Very people-oriented. This is Leah, who is not shy or afraid. How much happiness she had when they took her out to take photos, barely holding back tears. She is the best model in the world, very attentive and obedient. Just an ideal dog with all the best qualities. Estimated date of birth December 19, 2014. Vaccinated, spayed, microchipped, has a veterinary passport.

About Leya (Лея)

What life with Leya (Лея) looks like

Leya (Лея) is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Happy Paw Kyiv Oblast in Ukraine.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Frequently asked

Adopting Leya (Лея), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Leya (Лея)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Happy Paw Kyiv Oblast handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Leya (Лея) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Leya (Лея) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Happy Paw Kyiv Oblast will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Leya (Лея) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Leya (Лея) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Happy Paw Kyiv Oblast early rather than rehoming privately; they know Leya (Лея) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (UK). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
