Lia

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 3 months

Lia is one of four German Shepherd sisters who came to us from Ploče. Like the others, she was found abandoned and left to fend for herself, but fortunately rescued by good people and safely taken in at a shelter. Lia is a very gentle girl. In new situations, she is initially a bit cautious, but quickly relaxes and shows her playful, curious side. She gets along well with other dogs and enjoys playing, and builds trust with humans gradually and naturally. She has a stable, mild character and shows more and more each day how much she loves to explore and participate in everything that happens around her. Like any puppy, she needs more learning, gentle guidance and many positive experiences. With patient and responsible people, she will grow into a beautiful, balanced and devoted family female dog. Lia is looking for a home that will recognize her calm but cheerful nature and provide her with the security to continue growing into a stable and happy dog.

Uz strpljive i odgovorne ljude izrasti će u prekrasnu, uravnoteženu i odanu obiteljsku kujicu. Lia traži dom koji će prepoznati njezinu mirnu, ali veselu prirodu i pružiti joj sigurnost da nastavi rasti u stabilnog i sretnog psa. About Lia

What life with Lia looks like

Lia is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Azil Dubrovnik in Croatia.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇭🇷Adopting from Croatia

Croatian shelters include sterilization, vaccinations, and microchip ID in the adoption process. Several work with Italian and German rescue networks for placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Azil Dubrovnik handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Azil Dubrovnik will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Azil Dubrovnik early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
