Adopt Liakada

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 4 months

Liakada slipped into our handbag, so to speak, in the last moment of our last mission on Santorini. That means she was allowed to fly to Germany with us as a cabin dog in our handbag. Her two brothers arrived here a week later. We are very happy that the little one has already found a wonderful new home after a short time. We wish Lia and her new pack a happy and worry-free time together. Pictures and posts from the new home are shown further below. Post from the new home: Hello Mrs. Schreiber, we wanted to get in touch again 🙂 Pepper and Lia have now become a real dream team! When we go for a walk, they play so wildly together that it takes hours just to make any progress! Lia also really enjoys the walk on the fields! We also take Lia and Yoshi to the dog park every Saturday for puppy playdates, where she runs around with other puppies and learns her first easy tricks or "commands." Lia can already sit and if she feels like it, she can lie down 🙂 It makes her totally happy to learn, and she is really a very clever dog. We have lots of dog toys made of wood, where the dogs have to stack blocks to get to the treat or something similar. Lia finds this totally super and figured it out faster than Pepper 😀 When we lie on the couch in the evening, Pepper and Lia always lie on or on top of us 🙂 it's so sweet and cozy! We are all totally happy and relieved with the little cookie! Here are a few pictures. For a closer look, please click on an image.

About Liakada

What life with Liakada looks like

Liakada is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. in Zornheim.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Liakada, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Liakada?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Liakada on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Liakada if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Liakada already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Liakada isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Liakada and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
