Lichi

Female · Young · 2 years

Date of Birth: 01/03/2024. Size: small (8 Kg). Health: dewormed and vaccinated. She weighed 6.8 Kg when she arrived, with her femur head out of place, and had a negative Heartworm, Ehrlichia, and Anaplasma test (11-2-2026). She has recovered very well from the symptoms of the positive Leishmania. She underwent hip surgery that was out of place (14-4-2026), the injury affected her knee (ligaments, etc.), and there is no option for it. Spayed. In Cuencanimal since: 02/2026. Other data: She is very charming and cheerful. Character: Lichi, mini podenquita… she steals your heart in 3 seconds. Poor Lichi arrived in very poor health, skinny, with terrible skin, full of wounds, and her femur head was out of place. She tested positive for Leishmania, so we had to take very good care of her and let her regain strength before we could consider operating on her injury. We receive some little ones who are physically destroyed and also with a broken spirit, but our Lichi has evolved very well, going from being a shy and broken little dog to now being a mini, bold, and very beautiful one. She is an expert at asking for attention, sneaking into laps, and looking at you as if to say: "Hello, yes, I am small and adorable, come here immediately." On a leash, she is a 10, walking like a lady, without drama, without fear… even she has been to a little village walking calmly, as if she had been doing it her whole life. Her affection is delightful when she has confidence, with strangers at first she keeps her composure, but if you crouch down, you will see how she throws herself into your arms. With other dogs, she is pure party, she loves to play and run with her buddies. And with cats, we believe she could have good coexistence (always with proper introductions). History: Notice from people associated with the animal rescue association, she was in very poor health and quite scared. They believe she was deliberately abandoned, they had to establish a feeding routine to catch her and contact us to help Lichi. Current status: Seeing how Lichi has blossomed is one of those things that reconciles you with the world, now she just needs a family prepared for a daily dose of love in mini format.

Fecha de nacimiento: 01/03/2024. Tamaño: pequeña (8 Kg). Salud: Desparasitada y vacunada. About Lichi

What life with Lichi looks like

Lichi is a young adult dog waiting at CuencAnimal in Spain.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lichi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lichi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. CuencAnimal handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lichi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lichi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — CuencAnimal will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lichi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lichi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with CuencAnimal early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lichi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
