Lidka

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 9 years

After 9 years of her life, which she didn't know any other, she ended up in an animal shelter. For many weeks she was depressed, hiding in the shelter's kennel, coming out only when she saw a person. She would hug her head, as if asking not to be left alone. It was hard to handle her physical needs in the stall, so she was taken for walks, which she looked forward to so much. Despite everything, each subsequent day was worse, she was suffering greatly. Currently, she is in an office room, where she feels much better, but of course this is not a solution. Lidka very urgently needs a loving home. She gets along well with other dogs, knows the leash and despite her age, plays like a puppy. She loves toys that she brings under her feet and asks to spend time with her. She knows many commands, she knows what a cage kennel is and is very smart - she understands what is said to her, has no problem building relationships with people she doesn't know. She likes long walks. She is ideal and we want her to find a home where she will be loved for life. Age 9 years. Vaccinated, chipped, and spayed.

Jest idealna i pragniemy, by znalazła dom w którym będzie kochana do końca życia. Wiek 9 lat. Zaszczepiona, zaczipowana i wysterylizowana. About Lidka

What life with Lidka looks like

Lidka is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Radom in Radom.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lidka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lidka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Radom handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lidka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lidka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Radom will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lidka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lidka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Radom early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lidka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
