URGENT SOS FOR MAYA AND MAO - HEARTFELT CALL ??? Maya and Mao have not been spared by life. Adopted, then abandoned. Sometimes separated, later reunited. Shuttled from home to home, never understanding why the love promised never lasted. It took them four long years before they finally believed they had found their family, the one that would be last. Today, everything once again turns upside down and fate strikes again. A serious family issue now prevents their humans from providing the necessary veterinary care for Maya and Mao. Facing this impasse, a terrible thought has even crossed minds: euthanasia, not out of lack of love, but fear of seeing them suffer without being able to help. Because Maya and Mao are 14 years old. And age leaves its marks.???? So today, we launch a heartfelt call.?? We are urgently looking for a foster or adoptive family, together or separately, able to offer them a peaceful end of life, appropriate care and especially a lot of tenderness, patience and love. ????Do not let them finish their story in fear and suffering???? ????This post could be their last call for help.???? About Lien

What life with Lien looks like

Lien is a senior mixed breed cat waiting at Animaux en Détresse in Wettolsheim.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lien, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lien?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animaux en Détresse handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lien on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lien if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animaux en Détresse will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lien already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lien isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animaux en Détresse early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lien and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
