Adopt Lilie & Lucy

European Shorthair · Female · Adult · 5 years

Hello, we are Lucy and Lilie. We were given up to the animal shelter because it was no longer possible to take care of us. We are two friendly and cuddly female cats. Here at the animal shelter, we are still very overwhelmed by the general situation and tend to retreat when someone else comes around. But if someone takes the time to give us space, we already enjoy some cuddles. We are friendly towards the other cats, but are still currently holding back. I, Lucy, unfortunately bring dental problems with me; I tend to have a lot of tartar and had a tooth extraction in the past. My friend Lilie belongs to the Scottish Fold breed and carries the genetic defect OCD, which leads to significant changes in the cartilage area, hence her characteristic bent ears. With this, higher veterinary costs and a shorter life expectancy are to be expected. More details can be discussed with our veterinarian. Since the breed is banned in Austria and only animal shelters are allowed to place these cats, husbandry must be reported to the responsible BH, which the animal shelter will handle during placement to prevent our people from getting into trouble later. We are looking for a home suitable for apartment living with loving people who will give us time to come out of our shells and be rewarded with two best friends. Children should already be a bit older. If you would like to give us a home, please contact us!

About Lilie & Lucy

What life with Lilie & Lucy looks like

Lilie & Lucy is a adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierschutzverein St. Pölten in St. Pölten.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lilie & Lucy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lilie & Lucy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein St. Pölten handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lilie & Lucy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lilie & Lucy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein St. Pölten will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lilie & Lucy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lilie & Lucy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein St. Pölten early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lilie & Lucy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
