Lilli

British Shorthair · Female · Adult · 4 years

"Lilli" is a very affectionate, loving and calm cat. Since her arrival at our shelter she has shown herself to be extremely open and trusting towards people. She had no fear from the beginning and enjoys contact with her caregivers.Since "Lilli" has not lived in one of our adoption rooms for long, we cannot yet accurately assess whether she would like to live with another cat or if she feels more comfortable as a single cat. In her previous home she always lived alone. At our shelter she shows herself curious but also uncertain towards other cats. We will continue to observe in the coming weeks whether she wants to share her future home with another cat or prefers the undivided attention of her humans."Lilli" is only familiar with indoor living with a secure balcony. Therefore, we are looking for a new home for her in indoor living, ideally with a secure balcony where she can safely enjoy fresh air and sun.

About Lilli

What life with Lilli looks like

Lilli is a adult british shorthair cat waiting at BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lilli, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lilli?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lilli on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lilli if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lilli already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lilli isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lilli and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
