Lilly

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 6 years

Lilly, born in 2020 and about 57 cm tall, is a cautious yet friendly and exceptionally beautiful female dog. She is not one of those who throw their arms around strangers right away. But anyone who approaches calmly, gives her time, and stays friendly will see how she can be coaxed out and will even eat from their hand. In these moments her true nature shows: gentle, curious, and ready to place her trust in someone. It is clear that with regular visits, Lilly becomes a little more trusting each time. She is not a dog who refuses contact; she is a dog who wants to learn, but she needs security in order to do so. Visit update 20.08.: Lilly is making great progress. She is friendly, happily takes the treats we bring directly from the hand, and is noticeably becoming more trusting. You can tell that this beautiful dog is ready for the next step: a loving foster home and a forever home. For Lilly we wish for competent, experienced people who want to show her the world outside the shelter with patience, clarity, and love. A loving, patient environment where she can settle in at her own pace would be a great gift for her. Lilly could be a Hungarian Shepherd mix (HSH, Herdenschutzhund). We can neither confirm nor rule this out. Livestock guardian dogs often bring a sensitive nature, a natural watchfulness, and a desire for clear, calm leadership. A rural environment is especially suitable for dogs of this type. Anyone who accompanies Lilly will see how genuine trust grows out of cautious friendliness. Lilly is neutered and will be vaccinated, microchipped, and placed with a protection contract after a positive pre-screening. General note about our dogs: our dogs in Romania are visited regularly so that we can reassess their behavior and development again and again. These personal impressions help us greatly in conveying as good a picture as possible of each individual dog. Nevertheless, we would like to point out that a dog in a new environment, with new people, new routines, and new impressions, may also show itself differently. This is completely normal and is part of every process of change. Many dogs open up even faster in a home and show sides that were not visible at the shelter at all. Our assessments are therefore based on current observations, but they are not a guarantee of any particular behavior in a new environment. They are meant to provide guidance and show how the dog presents itself at the shelter, and what potential lies within it. We are convinced that with patience, understanding, and a loving environment, every dog can find its way and develop positively.

About Lilly

What life with Lilly looks like

Lilly is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Vierbeiner in Not e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lilly, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lilly?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Vierbeiner in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lilly on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lilly if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Vierbeiner in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Lilly already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lilly isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Vierbeiner in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lilly and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
