Adopt Lilou

Mixed Breed Cat · Unknown · Senior · 14 years

History It seems that the Polish language is very rich and there is no lack of terms for any existing phenomena and events. And yet, we lacked words when a tiny kitten, hit by a car on the road, came to us. We don't want to think about what kind of person must have hit the cat and left it in the ditch, although humanity in this case is highly questionable. By chance, Lilou was noticed by people friendly with the Foundation. Thanks to great will to live and attentive care of the veterinarians as well as a temporary guardian, the broken bones in the back legs healed properly and today Lilou is fully recovered and is running around in her temporary home. The pain and the cruelty suffered did not leave any traces on the kitten's health, who is an embodiment of energy and good spirit. Her extraordinary will to live and strength was shown already at the beginning, when despite paralyzed back legs she tried to get up and crawl towards toys and feline companions. Character Currently, Lilou leads a calm life as a settled cat lady, most often curled up with her large friend Kaskader. Despite her cheerful nature, Lilou already knows that not everyone is a cat's friend, therefore she needs time to trust new people. Because the stay in the temporary home has somewhat extended, Lilou has become very attached to her companion Kaskader and therefore we are looking for a quiet home for both of them. Agapek is staying in the Foundation's Temporary Home. Adopt him and change his life! Agapek przebywa w fundacyjnym Domu Tymczasowym. Adoptuj go i odmień jego życie! About Lilou

What life with Lilou looks like

Lilou is a senior mixed breed cat cat waiting at Fundacja Agapeanimali in Poland.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lilou, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lilou?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Agapeanimali handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lilou on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lilou if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Agapeanimali will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lilou already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lilou isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Agapeanimali early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lilou and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
