Adopt Lina

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Puppy · 3 months

Lina, ClappöhrchenLina came to the shelter by herself many years ago. She is a quiet female dog who is usually found near the gate with her dog friends. When Lina knows people, she is very cuddly, but with strangers she keeps her distance and observes. She is a dog of soft tones. One cannot necessarily call her insecure, she just does not want to have contact with everyone. This is something that should be respected. To people she knows and likes, she is friendly. Therefore, she will build a relationship with her new people in a new home. It is important for Lina to be given time to build trust. Anyone who adopts Lina will have to get her used to many things first, as Lina has spent almost her entire life in the shelter. We would be very happy if someone takes on this challenge and gives the old lady a few beautiful last years. Info: What does it mean that the dog is not yet ready for adoption? Our dogs are vaccinated according to regulations. Rabies vaccination is done annually in Serbia. In order to bring dogs from Serbia, which is now a listed third country, into the EU, they need a corresponding rabies titer. This measures whether there are enough antibodies against rabies in the blood. For Serbia, the titer certificate must be at least 3 months old upon entry into the EU. Since titers can be quite expensive, not all dogs have the certificate, but it is only done when needed. Therefore, it can take up to 3 months after adoption before the dog is ready for adoption. Blood is taken from the dog and sent to the lab. This is also the reason why our dogs are at least 8 months old before they can be adopted or become ready for adoption. About Lina

What life with Lina looks like

Lina is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Help For Strays e.V. - Animal Hope Riska Belgrad in Aachen.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lina, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lina?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Help For Strays e.V. - Animal Hope Riska Belgrad handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lina on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lina if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Help For Strays e.V. - Animal Hope Riska Belgrad will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lina already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lina isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Help For Strays e.V. - Animal Hope Riska Belgrad early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lina and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
