Adopt Linchen

Mixed Breed · Female

Cautiously-curious-brave ✨Linchen searches for her forever home✨Linchen has developed into a beautiful little female dog. Her expression has changed so much – she now enjoys the people at the animal shelter, allows herself to be petted, and likes to go for walks. Now she is ready for her new home! She weighs about 13 kg and should be rehomed in dog company. A confident canine companion would be an important reference point for her. It would be wonderful if her new home could continue to support her and show her the world. Linchen lived for a long time in a Romanian animal shelter and there she lost her sense of purpose. From time to time, we take in dogs from another animal shelter who have no chance – and she was one of them. Now she finally has the chance to find happiness. She should be placed in a quiet environment with patient people who can gently continue to support her. She can be left alone for hours and has a normal to moderate exercise need. Children should know respectful dog handling, then it should work well with her. Dog experience would be required from our side, as well as a good sense of responsibility, because she of course needs a lot of attention and care at the beginning. She also needs to learn many things, but she is like a small open book and makes progress every day. Who will give Linchen her great happiness? ❤️ STEEL DRAFT Age: 17.04.22 In animal shelter since: 04.01.25 Breed: Mixed breed Jack Russell -Pinscher- Hunting dog -Mops Gender: Female, neutered Origin: ProDog Romania Cats: Could go Dogs: Dog-experienced, ggf. About Linchen

What life with Linchen looks like

Linchen is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutz Kinzig-Main e.V. (Tierheim Gelnhausen) in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Linchen, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Linchen?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutz Kinzig-Main e.V. (Tierheim Gelnhausen) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Linchen on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Linchen if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutz Kinzig-Main e.V. (Tierheim Gelnhausen) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Linchen already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Linchen isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutz Kinzig-Main e.V. (Tierheim Gelnhausen) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Linchen and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
