Lino

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

Lino is a male dog born around 2020 with a rather delicate build, and he belongs to the anxious/shy type. He keeps to himself and sadly shows no sign of cooperating when visitors come to see him. He is exceptionally handsome, and his gentle gaze touches people immediately. But behind his fine appearance is a dog who has so far experienced little good in life and has therefore become very cautious. He hardly ever leaves his safe shelter and cannot be coaxed out either, but he calmly tolerates people approaching him and photographing him there. Estimating his actual size is therefore not so easy; he is probably somewhere between 45 and 50 cm. His nature is sensitive. It was particularly lovely to see how affectionately he treated the older male in his enclosure. The two often cuddled together, which shows that he is quite social and seeks closeness. Unfortunately, the two males now live separately. We are full of hope that Lino will also be able to allow closeness with people. He only needs the right environment and people who give him security. How quickly he will thaw out cannot honestly be predicted. Dogs like Lino develop very differently, depending on patience, calm, and the kind of bond offered to them. One thing is certain, however: with competent, loving, and patient people, Lino has the chance to regain trust and become a happy dog. For Lino we are ideally looking for an experienced foster home, or people in general who are willing to give him time and can offer a calm home without pressure, but with understanding and heart. Whoever gives Lino this chance may not get a dog who jumps straight into their arms, but one who learns step by step that the world can also be beautiful. Lino is neutered and will be vaccinated, microchipped, and placed after a positive pre-check with a protection contract. General note on our animals: Our dogs in Romania are visited regularly so that we can continually reassess their behavior and development. These personal impressions help us greatly in conveying as accurate a picture as possible of each individual dog. Nevertheless, we would like to point out that a dog may show itself differently in a new environment, with new people, new routines, and new impressions. This is completely normal and part of every process of change. Many dogs open up even faster in a home and show sides that were not visible at the shelter at all. Our assessments are therefore based on current observations, but they are not a guarantee of every behavior in a new environment. They are meant to provide guidance and show how the dog presents itself at the shelter, and what potential lies within it. We are convinced that with patience, understanding, and a loving environment, every dog can find its way and continue to develop positively.

About Lino

What life with Lino looks like

Lino is an adult mixed breed dog waiting at Vierbeiner in Not e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lino, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lino?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Vierbeiner in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lino on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lino if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Vierbeiner in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Lino already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lino isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Vierbeiner in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lino and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
