Lino

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Description Our animal welfare workers report: Lino was given to the shelter by city dog catchers, along with his siblings, in a Romanian shelter as a puppy. Fortunately, the small male puppy was very friendly and easy to approach. He got along well with other animals, even in the large animal shelter. Lino, with his beautiful brown-black fur pattern, only knew the dreary shelter life with too little individual attention and support; then, the shelter was closed by the authorities in late August 2024. The friendly, easy-going Lino was adopted by a caring family; due to a separation and the subsequent household dissolution, Lino must now, without fault, leave his family. Lino is very people-oriented, loves cuddles, enjoys being outdoors, lies in the sun, and watches the garden. Lino also has a protective instinct towards his "people." In a family with young children, we do not see Lino, as he might want to protect them. Perhaps a herding dog (the appearance suggests this, and some herding dogs have a natural protective instinct) has slipped into his lineage. Lino has a healthy appetite but can also be easily bribed with treats. He has a natural curiosity and learns quite quickly. He does not like car rides, as he always feels sick; however, he is very enthusiastic about everything else, such as the beach, camping, and the woods. Lino is an adventurous and attentive fella, he loves being scratched by his people, is very loyal to his pack, and should be gradually accustomed to new visitors. The alert four-legged friend knows cats and has even learned their "foreign language," so he can get along well with the furry paws. Who would like to offer Lino a safe haven where he can receive stability and permanent care? Please note:

About Lino

What life with Lino looks like

Lino is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lino, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lino?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lino on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lino if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lino already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lino isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lino and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
