LIO

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Adult · 6 years

Gentle, uncomplicated dream of a male dog is searching for a loving home where he can finally find his salvation. 🐾 LIO – An uncomplicated dream of a male dog and gentle family companion is looking for his heart’s home. Little LIO is an absolute soul of a dog whose loyal eyes instantly touch your heart. Behind this charming male dog lies a dark, sad past: In the summer of 2025, he was already facing certain death at the euthanasia station in Daeni—until he was rescued at the last moment. Despite this traumatic past, LIO has retained his incredibly loving nature. He never lost hope and now longs endlessly for a hand to stroke him and a place where he can feel safe forever. At around 6 years old (born in 2020), LIO is at the perfect, most mature stage of a dog’s life. He’s long since left behind the exuberant puppy fluff and, standing just 30 cm tall, boasts the ideal, manageable size for any adventure. He’s a stunningly beautiful, snow-white fluffy bear with soft, honey-colored ears and a gaze that’s pure gold. At the shelter, LIO proves to be an absolute dream dog: He’s completely easygoing, social, and gets along wonderfully with all his canine companions. His gentle, tolerant nature makes him the perfect family member. Of course, this clever fellow still has some basic doggy skills to learn—but by the side of his beloved humans, he’ll become a loyal, grateful companion for life. Who will give this little survivor the ticket to great happiness and a cozy basket to call home forever? Friendly, cuddly, compatible ✓ Happy to join another dog! Help LIO find a home—share this with your friends ❤️

About LIO

What life with LIO looks like

LIO is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hundsrücker Tierschutz gUG in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting LIO, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about LIO?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundsrücker Tierschutz gUG handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw LIO on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt LIO if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundsrücker Tierschutz gUG will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is LIO already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if LIO isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundsrücker Tierschutz gUG early rather than rehoming privately; they know LIO and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
