adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Lion has found a home! His story: Lion had a tough start in life. He was caught in a live trap and brought to the shelter – a stressful experience for a young dog who had had few positive interactions with people. He still shows some shyness, but with a bit of patience, he will surely quickly understand that he is in good hands. He gets along well with other dogs, but his compatibility with cats has not yet been tested. As he is still young, he will adapt well to new situations with the right guidance and will grow into an open, lively dog. It is likely that Lion is a mixed breed with Labrador characteristics. Labradors are known for their friendly, people-oriented nature and are often eager to learn and adaptable. He may bring some of these typical traits with him. At the same time, this means that he needs regular exercise and mental stimulation to develop healthily. For Lion, we wish for compassionate people who live in the countryside and can take the time to help him adjust to his new life step by step. He still needs to learn how to trust and wishes for patient people who will go on this journey with him. At 5 months old, Lion is approaching puberty – a phase where young dogs test their limits and may sometimes forget what they have learned. His new family should be ready to guide him through this time with loving consistency and positive reinforcement. A positively run dog training class could help him develop into a confident companion. Lion travels microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. He has an EU pet passport and can travel after a positive health check. Do you want to give Lion the chance at a loving home where he can feel safe and build trust? A big thank you to Denise, who gave Lion the opportunity to start anew with his name! As of: 08.04.

Stand: 08.04.2025

About Lion

What life with Lion looks like

Lion is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lion, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lion?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lion on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lion if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lion already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lion isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lion and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
